Fine Arts Classes

Next fall Central Carolina Community College will be offering fine arts classes which will be transferable to four-year colleges and universities. Pending final approval the Professional Arts and Crafts: Sculpture program will change to offer an Associate in Fine Arts Degree.
· Classes offered will be:
· Sculpture—students will explore creative and technical methods of sculpture with focus on traditional processes. Students will work with a variety of media including clay and wood. Stone carving is an exciting element of this course.
· Ceramics—provides an introduction to three-dimensional design principles using the medium of clay. Emphasis is placed on fundamentals of forming, surface design, glaze application, and firing.
· 2-D and 3-D Design—this course introduces the elements and principles of design as applied to two-dimensional and three-dimensional art. Emphasis is placed on the structural elements principles of visual organization, and theories of color mixing and interaction.
· Drawing—introduces the language of drawing and the use of various drawing materials. Emphasis is on drawing techniques, media and graphic principles.
· Painting—introduces the language of painting and the use of various painting materials. Emphasis is on understanding and using various painting techniques, media, and color principles.
· Printmaking—covers history, development techniques, and processes. Emphasis is on basic applications with investigation into image source and development. Upon completion, students should be able to produce printed images utilizing a variety of methods.
Students can expect to begin a four-year degree at a much lower cost ($22,000.00 over 4 years), quality instruction, small classes, creative atmosphere, well-equipped studios, and many opportunities.
